“Soft energy” expert talks at Plymouth State
Filed under General by david brooks at 8:06 am
If you’re interested in big, deep energy questions, you might want to make the trek to Plymouth on Tuesday morning. Plymouth State is hosting a free talk by Amory Lovins, co-founder of the think-thank Rocky Mountain Institute and a prominent energy advocate - he supports the “soft energy path,” which emphasizes efficiency and renewables slowly replace fossil fuels. As PSU notes: “Time magazine named him one of 2009’s 100 most influential people in the world. The Wall Street Journal named him one of 39 people worldwide “most likely to change the course of business in the ’90s.”” It’s quite a coup for a small school like PSU to snag him.
The talk starts at 9 a.m., and since Plymouth is a long way from just about anywhere you’ll need to hit the road early to get there, but it could be worth it. Here’s the info.

Amory has been at this a long time. I first became acquainted with him when we attended wind energy conferences around the country. It must be satisfying to him that the country seems to be finally putting some real resources behind the alternatives we were pushing for so many years.
