A vending machine that sells bait
Filed under General by david brooks at 8:26 am
I can find nothing geeky in New England this morning, so let’s just note something very very New Englandy: A snazzy vending machine that sells bait for fishing. I can do no better than quote the lede of this story in Foster’s Daily Democrat, datelined Kittery, Maine:
You know you’re in coastal Maine when you’re at a vending machine and “herring” and “chum” are two of your options.
More details:
The machine on Badger Island is offering mackerel, herring, clams, chum, squid and tackle at a cost of $3 to $5. For $5, a person can get a 1-pound container full of their choice of bait. It also offers some tackle and jigs.
By the way, a fishing-obsessed colleague tells me that bait vending machines are old hat. Ah well - they’re news to me!
