Faux formulas

In a desperate scrounge for material - by which I mean, of course, as part of my ceaseless efforts to entertain and inform GraniteGeek readers - I came across this entertaining rant about pseudo-scientific formulas developed to illuminate everyday life. A classic example is the "beer goggle effect", whch uses this formula to determine how much your perception of other people’s attractiveness will be altered by drinking booze:
An = number of units of alcohol consumed
S = smokiness of the room (graded from 0-10, where 0 clear air; 10 extremely smoky)
