Let it snow (artificially) let it snow, let it snow …

New Hampshire’s biggest microclimate manipulation program - often called "snowmaking" - got underway again this past week. (FYI, it looks like Bretton Woods will be the first ski area in the state to open.)
Here is a typographically-challenged but information-packed discussion about how snowmaking works (it’s the second question down in the problem set) from a University of Virginia physics class.
